<image:title>About NHIPL - Moved to action</image:title>
<image:caption>Interfaith Power and Light is mobilizing a religious response to global warming. Our mission is to inspire and mobilize people of faith and conscience to take bold and just action on climate change. This campaign intends to protect the earth’s ecosystems, safeguard the health of all Creation, and ensure sufficient, sustainable energy for all. Since the year 2000, IPL has helped thousands of congregations address global warming by being better stewards of energy. We have a track record of tangible results: shrinking carbon footprints and educating millions of people of faith about the important role they have to play in this challenging issue.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mission & History - History of the national organization</image:title>
<image:caption>Interfaith Power & Light effort began in 1998 with Episcopal Power & Light and the support of Grace Cathedral as a unique coalition of Episcopal churches aggregated to purchase renewable energy. In 2000, this Episcopal effort broadened its focus, brought in other faith partners, and California Interfaith Power & Light was born. California IPL developed a successful organizational model that engaged hundreds of congregations, educated thousands of people of faith about the moral and ethical mandate to address global warming, and helped pass California’s landmark climate and clean energy laws. Building on California’s success, this model has now been adopted by 40 state affiliates, and we are working to establish Interfaith Power & Light programs in every state.</image:caption>

<image:title>Energy Grants - The Katy Gerke Memorial Fund</image:title>
<image:caption>The Katy Gerke Memorial Fund was established to honor the memory of Dr. Katy Gerke and to help Christian congregations in New Hampshire to lower their church buildings’ carbon footprint. As an interdenominational organization, NHIPL is also actively seeking similar funding sources for groups representing other faith traditions. Funds from this program can be used by churches to: Obtain professional energy audits of their buildings. Undertake energy efficiency projects, e.g. building or equipment improvements that will reduce the energy use of their church buildings After energy efficiency projects have been done, undertake renewable energy projects that will lower the building’s carbon footprint.</image:caption>
